It was a great day of wrestling at Northfield on Saturday. Southern Wells really had no challenges in the first 3 pool matches as they went on to beat Northwestern 60-24, then Blackford by the score of 65-18, and finished off with a win over Bremen 70-3. That all changed as the next 2 dual matches were as exciting as they come. We had a great team effort and everybody wrestled hard as our first cross over dual came down to the last match to decide the outcome. The score was SW 35 Manchester 33 as we sent out the last wrestler of the dual. Lucky for us we sent out, Senior Noah Goodrich out to seal the deal and he won a tight 7-5 decision to give Southern Wells a 38-33 win over Manchester. That setup the championship round between Wabash and Southern Wells. Unfortunately we couldn’t find enough wins as Wabash won the tournament with a 45-34 win. Jed Perry, William Fiechter, Coleman Beeks, Josh Beeks, and Sam Smith all went undefeated on the day to help lead the team to an overall record of 6-1. Great effort from all the guys and looking forward to building on this success as the season moves forward.
